Looking up

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

On the drive back to Raleigh from Annapolis last night I drove through a construction site not far from the east end I-85. As I passed the traffic barrels in the other lane, I spotted a light-colored object pass over the car from left to right. At least, I thought I saw something pass over: it could have been light reflecting off the frame of my glasses. I’m pretty good at figuratively asking my eyes and/or ears “are you playing tricks on me?” It happened very quickly and I was trying to keep my car away from construction barrels flying past me at 70 MPH.

I don’t know if it was a meteor, a bird, or an unconventional aircraft, but I did see something.

Area 51′s official name revealed

After some sleuthing, the Military Times newspaper has reported the official name of the Air Force’s Groom Lake facility, otherwise known as “Area 51.” The name, “Homey Airport,” became apparent when it began appearing in aviation and GPS databases as IATA designator KXTA this past month.

Wags are already saying XTA stands for “extraterrestrial airport!”

Texans report seeing UFO

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) — In this farming community where nightfall usually brings clear, starry skies, residents are abuzz over reported sightings of what many believe is a UFO.

Several dozen people — including a pilot, county constable and business owners — say they have seen a large silent object with bright lights flying low and fast. Some reported seeing fighter jets chasing it.

“People wonder what in the world it is because this is the Bible Belt, and everyone is afraid it’s the end of times,” said Steve Allen, a freight company owner and pilot who said the object he saw last week was a mile long and half a mile wide. “It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts.”

US Soldiers film UFOs over Iraq

Monday, January 7th, 2008

American soldiers saw unusual lights hanging in the Iraqi sky on 3 January and filmed them with their night-vision scopes. The lights don’t appear to move and the soldiers are heard to offer explanation after explanation of what they are seeing.

Could this be an alien craft, a new form of surveillance craft, an optical illusion, or some psy-ops mission?
