Winner of *My* Lottery Comes Forward

Friday, February 16th, 2007

The winner of the lottery drawing that had my dream numbers in it has stepped up to claim her prize. Jackie Alston, a single mother from Halifax County, won the $74 million dollar prize, which she elected to receive as a lump sum of $25 million.

The fact that she took so long to claim her prize bodes well for her financial future. She was in no hurry and lined up financial advisors before her claim.

Since the winning numbers were drawn, I’ve been wondering what, if any, kind of psychic connection may exist between me and the winner. I’m glad to learn a little bit more about the winner. I’d be happy if I had won it myself, but its good to know that the winner has a good head on her shoulders.

Now to have that second set of dream numbers get drawn . . .

The Inverse Power Of Praise

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Read this fascinating article on the inverse power of praise:

Since Thomas could walk, he has heard constantly that he’s smart. Not just from his parents but from any adult who has come in contact with this precocious child.

But as Thomas has progressed through school, this self-awareness that he’s smart hasn’t always translated into fearless confidence when attacking his schoolwork. In fact, Thomas’s father noticed just the opposite. “Thomas didn’t want to try things he wouldn’t be successful at,” his father says. “Some things came very quickly to him, but when they didn’t, he gave up almost immediately, concluding, ‘I’m not good at this.’?” With no more than a glance, Thomas was dividing the world into two—things he was naturally good at and things he wasn’t.

Why does this child, who is measurably at the very top of the charts, lack confidence about his ability to tackle routine school challenges?

Iranian UFOs May Be U.S. Drones?

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

I have heard this theory before from some people knowledgeable with special operations.

People in Iran, as in many other countries, have had interesting sightings of and encounters with unidentified flying objects (UFOs) over the years. Lately these sightings seem to have increased.

Are Iranians seeing U.S. surveillance drones, extraterrestrial visitors, some combination of both or something entirely different?

The Montreal UFO Sighting of 1990

Monday, February 5th, 2007

On November 7, 1990, a woman swimming in the pool of the Hotel Bonaventure in Montreal spotted a strange light in the sky. For three hours it remained, being witnessed by numerous hotel guests as well as police and journalists. No one is quite sure what it was or why it was there.

Read an account from VirtuallyStrange’s UFO Updates mailing list, and watch the CBC’s account of the incident here.

Since this incident predates the widespread use of the Internet, this is the first time I’ve heard of this sighting. I find it strange that there was very little publicity of it at the time.
